From back country huts to relaxing in the comfort of Arrowsmith Lodge while taking in the spectacular scenery over lake Heron and to the rugged snowcapped mountains beyond. We have the wool shed for larger groups and the ever popular Lake Heron campground for those wanting to pull out their tents and sleeping bags during the trout fishing season.

Arrowsmith Lodge is lakefront accommodation with a backdrop of stunning mountain ranges Arrowsmith Lodge in Spring
and located only 2 hours drive from Christchurch International Airport and just 40 minutes from Methven. This renovated
former shearers’ quarters offers premium accommodation for up to 12 people in the Mid Canterbury High Country, in the heart of the South Island, New Zealand. From the front lounge enjoy panoramic views across Lake Heron barely 20 metres away, and the magnificent surrounds of Mt Arrowsmith Station.

The Woolshed is ideal for larger groups and can be set up to suit a range of needs. For those extra large groups it is a great option. Built in 1997 the wool shed boasts a clean and tidy wool room with mattresses supplied for marae style sleeping arrangements.

The Lake Heron Campground has direct access to the lake, a pretty stream to let the children paddle in on those hot summer days and is surrounded by beautiful mature trees that provide shady spots for those hot summer evenings.

There are also 2 back country huts – the Wildman Hut and Top Hut (this one belongs to DOC) These huts are accessed via the Station 4WD tracks and are accessible dependent on weather and conditions. Great  care should always be taken  while driving on this track, a good four wheel drive truck with mud tyres and an experienced driver is a must. You will need to contact the Station Manager – Brian May for an update on track conditions and to book a hut.
